If companion files are in subfolders, choose the whole folder.

Prepare your files

Choose an ASCII or binary PLY file containing faces. A point cloud without mesh faces cannot be converted.

Reads PLY faces and supported vertex colors. External texture links and arbitrary custom properties are not preserved.

How to convert

  1. Select one or more models and their companion files.

  2. Choose the output and quality, then convert to BBModel.

  3. Compare, download and open the result in Blockbench.

About the result

Cube conversion approximates a mesh surface with cubes. Mesh conversion keeps the shape as triangles, reducing or subdividing them to fit the selected quality. Neither preserves original UVs, PBR materials, rigs or animation; both produce a static BBModel with colors in a new embedded texture. Check scale and compatibility in Blockbench before using it in a game.

Cube results are never truncated by a cube-count cap or automatically downgraded. Mesh conversion simplifies shapes to the selected quality; Ultra keeps the original geometry without a triangle cap or automatic reduction. Size depends on the model and selected quality. The practical limit is your device’s memory and performance.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account or credits?

No. Conversion and BBModel downloads are free without signing in.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Conversion runs in your browser, and external file links are not fetched automatically. Only if you choose Import into Studio and agree do we save the converted model (not your original file) to your private project.

Why are colors or textures missing?

OBJ may need MTL and images; GLTF may need BIN and images. Choose the whole folder to preserve relative paths. Standard STL usually has no color texture.

How do I edit the result?

Open the downloaded .bbmodel in Blockbench to edit the converted cubes or meshes and the embedded color texture.

What is different about Minecraft 26.1+ meshes?

Curves and the original shape stay a triangle mesh instead of cubes. Meshes work with Minecraft 26.1+ clients and BetterModel 3 or later, which draws each triangle in one color. Use cube conversion for 1.21.x resource packs or ModelEngine.

Can I convert several models at once?

Yes. Add up to 20 models with their companion files, choose the output and quality for each file and convert them all in one go. Download each result or all of them as one ZIP.
